T. Thomason

I had the immense pleasure of spending time photographing T., a musician who recently came out as transgender, while listening to Bob Dylan records and talking about our roots in the Maritimes.

Thomason expresses themselves as masculine, but identifies as non-binary, somewhere between the semantic confines of male and female. It’s a change that makes T. comfortable, but it’s not without complexities. “The English language just isn’t as flexible as I wish it was,” Thomason says. “You worry not only about fans, but also industry people taking you seriously.”

The wonderful accompanying text by Josh O’Kane can be found here – http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/music/how-t-thomason-is-claiming-a-stake-in-the-music-world—and-helping-other-transgender-artists-do-the-same/article24822533/
