Mummering – a centuries-old tradition that takes place across the colourful neighbourhoods of Newfoundland and Labrador during the Christmas season.

Friends and family get “rigged up” in costume, using anything they can scavenge in their home to disguise their identity or gender – curtains, lampshades, old clothing – before going unannounced to neighbours’ homes for impromptu kitchen parties with music and drink.
